My mind is dry — cracked and crumbling like the dusty desert floor. It lies barren within my skull, broiling beneath the merciless sun.

Chalk-white dust churns savagely beneath the somber veil and drops to the hardened ground, smothering it with a bitter, laden quilt.
Pale trees erode in the distance. They yield to the acrid breath of winter — their bark peels away in the deathly wind.
